Breakthrough

The human mind has difficulty seeing the whole picture.  It's much easier for us to look at parts of the whole.  When science teaches us about the human body, we learn about all the parts.  We learn their structure (anatomy) and their function (physiology).

Autism

Recently, the Comedy Central channel aired a two-hour telethon to benefit Autism.  They repeatedly showed the statistic of autism’s “1 in 166” births today, compared with 1978 when it was a relatively unknown condition with an incidence of less than 1 in 10,000.

Mary Megson, M.D., in her Congressional Investigation testimony, stated that her research demonstrated that autistic children had a total vitamin A deficiency caused by the MMR vaccine.

“Bad Knees and Weak Ankles”

Between the ages of 15 and 35 I believed I had bad knees and weak ankles.  My body type is similar to my dad’s, and he always had knee and ankle problems, so I assumed I inherited my bad knees and weak ankles from him.  As a teenager, I had endured multiple sprains and strains, which resulted in years of taping, a cast on one knee, and multiple cortisone injections, only to be told afterwards by the doctor, “Learn to live with it.”  Gradually, my knees and ankles got worse.

You, Too, Can Have A Bionic Body

This is a copy of a “Letter to the Editor” I wrote a few years ago in response to an article in Newsweek magazine titled, “You, Too, Can Have a Bionic Body”.

Care of the Spine

Recently, I met a 70-year-old woman I had adjusted about 20 years ago.  She had a low back and neck problem, and I adjusted her for three weeks and she felt much better.  I had recommended further care, but since she felt better, she didn’t think she needed any more care.

Abnormal Mechanics

Recently, I saw an old friend I hadn’t seen in years.  First, a little background: He’s only a few years older than I; he has had backaches off and on most of his life, and I adjusted him 3 or 4 times about 25 years ago when he was about thirty and in acute low back pain.  I helped him get out of the crisis, but failed to educate him about the importance of correcting the old spinal injuries (subluxations) and gradually improving the integrity of his spine with regular chiropractic adjustments.

Why Weekly Adjustments?

Why do I recommend getting adjusted every week or every other week?  Because current research states that it takes about 10-14 days for a joint injury to sustain permanent damage if left uncorrected.  Considering there are more than 100 joints in your spine and pelvis, and they are very prone to injury from birth on, your weekly or bi-weekly adjustment is likely one of the most important things you can do to keep your body and mind working optimally.

Why our Spines Need to be Adjusted

Recently, I’ve heard a few people say things like, “My back feels OK these days, and so I don’t need to get adjusted.”  When I hear this, it makes me realize how much I have failed in teaching the principles of chiropractic.

Gratitude

A sincere thank you to all of you for trusting in chiropractic and me.  The word “chiropractic” came from the Rev. Samuel Weed in 1895 – the Greek “chiro” for hand, and “praktiko” for done by or practiced by.  We chiropractors use our hands to locate and correct vertebral subluxations, those little spinal injuries that have healed wrong causing joint and nerve dysfunction.

The Gift

I was invited to play guitar, with my good friend and music partner Glenn, at the North Fork Environmental Council’s fundraiser at Martha Clara Vineyard.  As a donation for their auction, I offered a consultation, examination and one full month of unlimited chiropractic care.

Health - The Greatest Wealth

Regarding chiropractic and money; the things we do in life to make our lives happier and healthier must be paid for somehow.  We can grow our own foods, but we must work the soil and weed.  We can buy better foods, but better foods cost more.  We can exercise regularly and pay for it with our time and effort.

The Subtle Substance of the Soul

We chiropractors work with the subtle substance of the soul.  We release the prisoned impulse, the tiny rivulet of force
that emanates from the mind and flows over the nerves
to the cells, and stirs them into life.
We work with that magic power that transforms a common food into thinking, loving, living clay, that robes the earth with beauty and scents the flowers
and the trees with the magic of the air.

The HUGENESS of Chiropractic

Chiropractic’s positive impact on the health of the human body is enormous because it improves the function of the nervous system, which controls and coordinates every structure and function in the body.

Weakened from birth

We show a “birth video” in our office.  It is a short video demonstrating the extreme violence of the birth process.  When people watch this video, they often cringe and squirm while witnessing the violence.  We call it “natural” childbirth, but it’s far from natural.  Injuries to the baby’s upper neck are common during birth due to the excessive pulling and twisting on the newborn’s neck.  Many die from it, according to Abraham Towbin, MD, of Harvard Medical School.  We may call them stillbirths or SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome), but research shows that in many cases, they are a result of damage done to the upper spine during childbirth.
